Is This Interesting At All?

From: nattybumppolbna (nattybumppolbna@yahoo.com) | Date: 2004-08-29 01:41:42 UTC
I have some placements planned that are too small for even a
35mm microbox. They are in very public places that I think would
be fun to have letterboxes.
My plan is to hide the stamp in a magnetic box and include a
password to a web site.
The Letterboxer would get a stamp for their book and submit a
graphic of their stamp to the web site/online guest book for
posting. So it is kind of a hybrid Real Letterbox/Virtual Letterbox.

Would this be interesting? Or is it too much trouble?

I'd like to hear the thoughts of the group here?

Thanks,

Natty Bumppo

Sounds fun to me. I think some of the purists would say that it's not a letterbox if it doesn't have both a stamp and a journal, but I say go for it. Hybrid Real/Virtual Letterbox's should be good for urban planting. :)

Sounds interesting to me...as long as the clues were tough to figure
out so I had some sense of accomplishment at least for getting the
password. Let us know how it works out if you do it, it sounds like
something I'd like to try as well :)
As far as the purists go, there are geocache hybrids out there and
virtual letterboxes too, so it should be kosher. (Especially since
geocaching seems to be one of the seven deadly sins around here ;))

It seems interesting. I'm not very good with computers so I don't think I
would participate.
I think it's worth a try.

This sounds fun to me, too. Kind of mystery/virtual hybrid. It's
funny...my cousin and I were discussing something like this the
other day but just opposite. A "virtual" would lead to clues for a
real one. It seems to me like creativity is the name of the game so
I say have at it! Good luck....let us know how it goes!

Happy trails,
Kerri

I have done this with a few of my letterboxes that have
gone missing in far away places where I can't replace
them. I call them "online" boxes. If you go to the
place where the box used to be, you can download an
image of the stamp and update my online log for the box.
Not as much fun as a real box, but better than no box
at all.
